Policies and Procedures
Policies and Procedures
We have many policies and procedures in place at the nursery, to protect the children and to help ensure we maintain a high standard of care at all times.
The policies and procedures govern the way we operate in the nursery, and will be openly published for parents and OFSTED to read and refer to at any time. The whole staff team are involved in reviewing and monitoring the policies and procedures on a regular basis, so we can implement any changes or add to them when required. When we are reviewing a policy we display a copy on the notice board and encourage parents/carer’s to comment and make suggestions.
The policy and procedures file is located in the welcome area if you require any further information please ask the Nursery Manager
Safety & Security
The safety and security of our Little Rascals is of paramount importance and access to the nursery is strictly controlled. We have installed biometric fingerprint door entry systems so only those who are authorised have access
Visitors to the nursery are asked to provide identification and to sign the visitor’s book on arrival. Our staff are very conscientious and are required to adhere to strict policies and procedures regarding the authorisation for collection of children.
All employees are checked for their suitability with references and the Disclosure Barring check and are also required to attend child protection training as part of their induction. This training is further supported by a fully trained Child Protection coordinator at the nursery.
The nursery also has a fully trained Health and Safety Coordinator, and Fire Marshalls to ensure nursery safety and security at all times.
We also believe it is our duty to teach the children in our care about safety and security and discussions and activities around these subjects are built into the curriculum and supported by visits from fire fighters and police officers. Children also take part in risk assessing their playrooms
Illness & Medication
If your child is unwell, please keep them at home as we have a responsibility to other children and staff to maintain a healthy environment.
The length of time they should stay away from nursery will depend on the illness, nursery staff can advise on what the recommended exclusion periods are.
With your written permission we can administer medicines prescribed by your doctor and Calpol for teething. The medicine will need to be labelled clearly with your child’s name, dosage and instructions.
All of our staff are trained in Paediatric First Aid.
